1875-CC Gold Double Eagle Liberty NGC AU CACNatural orange-gold color and rather attractive for this era as most of these Carson City double eagles are found with considerable bagmarks, not so here, as the surfaces show smooth wear and minimal heavy nicks. High quality and appealing, always in demand for any Carson City issue. $4,800
1876 Gold Double Eagle Liberty Type Two PCGS MS63 Type Two Double Eagles are always popular with Collectors, especially in the Mint State grades. The 1876 is particularly desirable as it is the Philadelphia Centennial issue and quite scarce in the Mint State 63 grade. Population reports list 24 coins graded finer in Mint State 64 which we can assume is a slightly inflated figure with grading resubmissions. Our example is an appealing specimen, with few bag abrasions as is seen on most of these coins. Trends is $12,000. PCGS secure. $10,800
1877-CC Gold Double Eagle Liberty, Type Three PCGS AU50The Carson City Mint production figures dropped from 138,441 circulation strikes in 1876 to 42,565 circulation strikes in 1877. Also, 1877 marks the debut of the type three design with the motto above the eagle's head and the denomination spelled out. Prices jump to the five figures in the next grade! $5,160
1883-CC Gold Double Eagle Liberty PCGS AU55A pleasing coin with just the minimum of marks associated with this grade. The reverse is definitely an AU grade and the coin is encased in an old, green PCGS holder. Trends is $6,000! $4,680
1884-CC Gold Double Eagle Liberty PCGS AU53The bright obverse is free from consequential marks, and the partially lustrous reverse is only minimally abraded. The curls display light wear, but the wings, cheek, and other high points show only a hint of friction. Only one die pair is known for the 1884-CC, identified by a pair of intersecting die lines above the initials $4,320
1889-CC Gold Double Eagle Liberty NCG XF45Mildly abraided surfaces but none of the discoloration as is normally seen in this grade. A reasonably priced Carson City that is ready to ship! $3,540
1890-CC Gold Double Eagle Liberty PCGS MS61The 1890 Carson City Twenty is an obtainable coin in the lower XF/AU grades, but becomes quite scarce in the lower Mint State grades and virtually impossible in any grade after Mint State 62! There are none graded higher than MS63, with just six examples known in that grade. The Trends for a Mint State 62 coin is $15,000. A well-struck specimen with eye-catching characteristics! $10,680
1890-CC Gold Double Eagle Liberty PCGS AU50Slightly prooflike fields with light wear on Liberty's hair and the uppermost devices. Natural smooth fields and cheek on Liberty, lacking the heavy bagmarks so often encountered and pleasing to the numismatic eye. $3,600
1895 Gold Double Eagle Liberty ICG MS62An off holder but the coin is nice. Trends is $2450. $2,215
1900 Gold Double Eagle Liberty NGC MS62Trends is $2400. $2,215
1908 Gold Double Eagle Saint Gaudens No Motto PCGS MS65Priced below the Trends of $3,000 this beauty is encased in an old, green PCGS holder. $2,745
1908 Gold Double Eagle Saint Gaudens With Motto PCGS MS64The Trends and PCGS numbers are both listed at $5250, but the recent auction highs are around $6300. No spots and abundant eye appeal! $5,400
1909/8 Gold Double Eagle Saint Gaudens NGC AU58The only uncontested overdate of the Saint-Gaudens series makes it a must-have for any collection. Priced at the Collectors Universe/PCGS list for this grade. Nice coin! $2,425
1914 Gold Double Eagle Saint Gaudens PCGS MS64The highest affordable grade for the average collector, this coin quadruples in just the next grade of Mint State 65! Priced at the PCGS list of $6000. $6,000
